Easy and simple to make beautiful to look decorations for Home

Hello Friends,
Its May and we are bac with a new challenge over at Happy Little Stampers Christmas challenge but before I get into my post I would like to say I am very Happy to be back home, I had gone to visit my parents and got stuck there during the lockdown, but it was fun too... I got to spend some quality time with my parents after 22 years so I am happy but I sure was missing crafting so went back to doing some embriodery using up my mums supplies.....Happy to be back and hoping you are all safe and healthy and enjoying crafting where ever you are...
Back to the challenge; this months theme is Deck the Halls and this gave me the opportunity to make decorations for the hutch I have in my living room so that it will also be decorated in the christmas theme this year....made a paper garland and a banner Hope you enjoy this simple craft.

For the GARLAND

Materials: Card stock 3 A4 size sheets in each of the colours.(Red, Green, White), Craft glue, Bakers twine, 1 1/2 " Circle punch/ Scissors and bottle/jar cap.
Step 1: Used 1 1/2 " circle punch to punch out the pieces in red green and white. This can be done by drawing circles around a bangle or bottle/jar cap as long as the size is consistent you can make with any size cicle cut-outs.

Step 2: Fold all the pieces in half.

Step 3: Here I chose 3 colours and stuck them with craft glue each half stuck to a different piece. You can use as many colours you like or even a single colur, depending on your choice.

Step 4: I used 6 pieces(each colour twice) to form a ball you can choose how ever many you like. but before your stick the last piece insert the twine and stick it otherwise the ball will keep moving around. In case you like the movement you need not stick the twine. Make sure to keep equal distance between balls or you may choose not to keep any distance...

For the BANNER
Materials: Card stock 3 A4 size sheets in each of the colours.(Red, Green, White), Craft glue, Bakers twine, Embossing ink pen  (You can use an alphabet stamp and versamark embossing ink pad too), Embossing buddy()White Embossing Powder, Heat gun, Paper trimmer or pencil, scale and scissors. Score board (Optional)
Note If you do not have embossing pen learn how to make one here
learn to make your own embossing buddy here
Step 1: Cut the base sheet; hereI used Green as my base, to the size measuring 5 1/2 " X 3 1/2" and score it using score board or by measuring on a scale at 1/2" on the short side such that after folding this piece becomes 5x3 1/2". You will need as many of these pieces as the number of letter in the word you are making a banner for. Here i used 12 pieces.
Step 2: Cut the next layer here i have chosen white to the measurement of 4 1/2"x 3". You will need the same number of pieces as the base layer.
Step 3: Cut the top layer to 2 1/2"x 4". Here this layer is red. Cut the same number of pieces as the previous layer.

Step 4: Add the largest layer to the twine using glue on the folded end which folds over the twine to the back. Next Add the middle layer from the top of the base piece keeping it centered to the sides. Add the top layer similarlry. Repeat this process at equal distances from each other until all the pieces are stuck on the twine to form the banner.
This step can also be done colour wise, as in adding one colour pieces at a time before moving to the next colour.

Step 5: Use and embossing pen to write the alphabets of the word on each piece. If you do not have an embossing pen (learn to make your own embossing pen) you may use stamps and embossing ink pad to stamp the individual alphabets. Make sure to remove the static using an embossing buddy(learn how you can make your own embossing buddy for no expense) or powder tool before stamping or writing.
Step 6: Apply embossing powder on the stamped/ written image and take away the extra powder. Use a heat gun to melt the embossing powder.
No worries if you do not have the embossing pen, powder or heat gun you can simply used GOLDEN or WHITE PEN or even use glue to write the alphabets and sprinkle some glitter on it.
Step 7: This step is optional, Cut a fishtail on the end of each of the layers. Mark the centre of the piece and cut each of the layers till it reaches the next layer starting from the largest layer. Cut at a diagonal to reach the top of the center point or where the cetal cut touches the next layer... repeat for the next layers as well. (You can watch this video on how to cut layered fish banner with no special tools)
Your decorations are ready and I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and will have fun making them for home. I also look forward to seeing all your creations in the challenge...
Happy and Safe Crafting!!!
Take Care
