Hopes Dreams and Celebrations...

Hello Friends,

So much has happened all over the world since my last post....we have all seen and heard so much bad news that I am simply tired of all the gloom.....However, I hope and pray for the health and safety of all of you and your friends and family as well as for my friends and family .....
I was visiting my parents when the lockdown happened and now I am here and though I am not stranded I do miss my home and husband and most of all my craft supplies but I am now finding new ways to craft with limited supplies and rediscovering embroidery as those supply my mom has on hand....
Keeping hope of future joy and celebrations in my heart I made this small ornament as my DT post for this months' Christmas Challenge over at Happy Little Stampers Blog.

This ornament was made using mostly things that are easily available at most homes and its simple enough for kids to make as well....In fact, they can make a variety of these during this period of lockdown to prepare for the Christmas and decorate their tree with handmade ornaments.. so here goes...
Step 1: I used a small cap from a used ointment tube to make the hanging piece. Make a hole in the cap by heating up a screwdriver and poking a small hole on the top. then make a loop with a thin cord and pass the ends through the hole and tie a large knot on the inside of the cap such that the loop is locked and does not open (in case you do not have cord or thick thread you may use regular thread folded a few times).

Step 2:Take a ball; here I have used styrofoam ball but you may use any ball plastic or even old ones. now you need to attach the hanging element to the ball using any strong glue...you may use PVA or hot glue per your preference... Let it dry.
Step 3: Once the glue is dry you can add a base coat of colour. Acrylic colours have been used here but you may use chalk paints or multi surface paints  depending on your preference and avaiability. Here i divided the ball vertically into eigth sections and coloured them alternating... You can paint it all 1 colour or make horizontal sections or even zigzag lines etc.. the possibilities are endless...

Step 4: Once the vase colours are dry use gems or mirrors or sequins to decorate the ball to add the bling....here I used some teardrop shaped gems and small stick on bling stones to finish the project.

I hope you enjoyed this and will make some of your own ornaments to decorate your three this year so that you look back at this time with a smile and not thhe horror,,,
Best wishes and prayers for health and safety of all beings,,,

Hugs....
Seemaa

  4. What a great ornament and how clever to have made something without your craft supplies. It must be hard to be away from home but nice for you to have time with your parents. Keep safe.
