Hello Friends,
I am back again for the inspiration post for this months mixed media challenge at Happy Little Stampers. This month's theme is newspaper and though it is one of the simplest thing to recycle around the house I had a really difficult time trying to decide what I wanted to do this time. I finally decided to experiment with something I have had in mind for quite some time but never got to try it. So here it is.
It was quick and very simple to make. I was inspired by Pop-Art. I covered my 6x8 canvas board with strips of newspaper. Coated it finally with matt -medium to make the surface non-porous. On a scratch paper I toyed with what it wanted to paint on top and once I was happy with the design I decided to transfer it to the canvas.
To transfer the image without using transfer/carbaon paper : Rub lead on the back-side of the image or sketch to be transferred. Once the whole area is covered with pencil lead, keep the image on the surface to be transferred and run your pencil over the image you see a faint transfer on the canvas this can then be darkened as needed.
Once the image was transferred I decided to outline the image in back and leave it as such except of the eyes, hair and lips and I also cut out some big alphas from the newspaper to use at title....hope you enjoy it......

Thanks so much Michelle!
DeleteLove how you have transferred the image to the newspaper background!
ReplyDeletethanks Susan.....yes I was not so confident that I could get it right in one go in the final piece so once I was happy with the sketch on a rough paper I opted to transfer it than actually drawing it again....
Deleteappreciate you feedback!!
Gorgeous work. Love the effect of the face on the canvas.
ReplyDeleteThankyou PRIYA!! appreciate you stopping by.
DeleteBeautiful work... Simple and great. I also loved the way you pasted the newspaper strips with font facing down, I felt that way out eyes were not catching the words in the background. I don't know if it was a silly discovery, but, I thought it made a lot of difference
ReplyDeletethankyou Eanjeetha, for catcing that detail.... really appreciate it...
