Rotating Earring Organizer-Recycle Project-Jewellery organizer

Hello Friends,

I love wearing jewellery and if you are like me I get you but the major problem I face is with organizing it in such a way that I can take put it on and then when I take it off I can easily put it back without too many steps involved but when I keep it in a drawer or box I have a hard time keeping the a pair together so this DIY Jewellery organizer was an answer to all my trouble and it adds such cute little touch to my vanity..Hope you will enjoy this tutorial.

First, let's take a look at the supplies you will need and here I am sharing other options to use that make best out waste use as well: I am using CDs here as we have loads and we do not have much use for them these days most of us use our mobiles for watching movies or listening to our favourite music; but I can make them work for me this way.... I have other projects where I have used CDs too I will link to them below in case you would like to check them out....

CDs /DVDs or you can use a mount board or packaging board
cardboard
pattern paper
cardstock/chart paper
cardboard roll/ Kitchen
wooden dowels or dandiya stick
scissors
ruler
pencil
sandpaper
craft knife/ paper cutter
hole punch/ eyelet setter punch/ screwdriver
candle and matchstick (if you are using a screwdriver)
decorative tape
PVA glue/ school glue/ mod podge/ Fevicol
Superglue/ E6000/ fevikwik

Step 1:  Measure 2.5" on your Roll with the help of a ruler and mark it all around the roll so that it even, then using your craft knife or paper cutter cut on the line that you have drawn so that the edges are even all around, in case they are not exactly even you may use a sandpaper to make it even and smooth.

Step 2: Take two CDs/ DVDs and glue them together (in case you are using cardboard or mountboard you need first cut out the shape of your choice and then if it's not very strong glue two pieces to make them strong.) Once the glue dries you need to find the centre of the CDs and draw a line across it, then rotate 90 degrees and draw another line through it and keep doing this as shown below. Do this all the pairs of CDs here I have used 3 pairs.

Step 3: You need to make holes now. You will make 2 holes between each line trying to keep them equal distance apart. To make the holes in CDs; if you do not have any tools, light the candle and heat the metal part of the screwdriver (approximate for a min) once hot you can press it on the CD and push through and that will make the hole you need. Repeat this with all the sets. Once you are done sand down any rough edges using sandpaper.

Step 4: Glue together 4 CDs/DVDs this will form the base. Since I am using CDs I already have a hole in the centre but in case you are working with cardboard or mountboard, you will need to find the centre and make a hole large enough for your wooden dowel or dandiya stick to go in. You will also create similar holes in the other 3 pieces that you have made previously (Step 3).

Step 5: Now that we have finished with the preparation we need to start decorating each of the layers, here you are free to choose any kind of paper you like; I have used a floral pattern paper to cover the CDs. Once done you can poke the holes again. I covered my roll pieces and the edge of my base piece with a contrasting chocolate colour paper to highlight my pattern paper. Added glitter tape for some bling.

Step 6: Now that all the pieces are decorated we can glue the dowel to the base by adding a strong glue to the sides of the hole I added a piece of cardboard circle to the base to provide the dowel with a little support by having some more area to stick too... You can do the same if you are working with cardboard (Do not make a hole in the centre of this last piece).

Step 7: Once the dowel is stuck and the glue is dry its time to assemble just add a piece of roll place your first layer on top, add your second piece of roll and add your second layer on top of that and then finally add the third layer similarly. you can add a stopper on the top or add more floral decoration in between the layers too and your Earring organizer is ready.

Note: I do like to add too many 3d decorations on my utility pieces as it starts to catch more dust over time and becomes difficult to clean, having a smooth surface keeps it easy to clean.

You can now use this organizer on your dresser or vanity table and enjoy. I hope you liked this tutorial and if you did please share your views and if you have any questions please feel free to ask me in the comments.
