Hello Friends,
Since my last post where I painted on a newspaper canvas, I have been sort of obsessed with text related designs and have been using them on a lot of project and so when I saw the theme for this months Mixed Media Challenge at Happy Little Stampers Blog I was super excited and though what I made is quite simple I am in love with it....if I say so myself ;-) so here are not 1 not 2 but 3 projects that I am sharing with you. I hope it will inspire you too...
I have done quite a but of decoupage over the last few month but I love to do transfers, so I decided that this time I would love to transfer text. (NOTE: Laser prints work best for this and whenever you are doing text transfer please make sure that you take a print in mirror image. To do mirror image select your image and open it with Paint (if using windows)or you can use canva or pic monkey or any other free online photo editor; once the image is uploaded to the software all you need to do is flip the image horizontally, most software will have this option where you find option for rotating the image). Take a print of this image.
Once you have the print, I prefer to coat the image with a coat of matte medium which is also my choice of glue for the transfer, I have used regular PVA glue as well as Mod Podge and they both work just as well so no worries you can do this with just about any of them. After applying a thin coat of matte medium let it dry. (NOTE: here I have used a word cloud that I found on the net and used it as that saves time.)
Paint the bottles with white chalk paint or white gesso. I started with adding 2 complete images for transfer and then I cut apart the images into smaller pieces to fill in the gaps. This does take a little time but the result looks really nice. If you would like to see how I will link a video at the end of this post where I made a set of coaster for myself using images of my favourite childhood cartoons.
Once the text was transferred I used clear acrylic spray paint to add shine and protection on the pieces. I used Home Decor varnish on the pen stand but I felt that the acrylic clear spray leaves the image beneath a little more crisp. To finish I added some burlap twine to one of the bottles.
Hope this was fun and looking forwards to all your creations this month for the challenge.
See you all soon.
Hugs
Seemaa
