Hello Friends,
Diwali, the festival of lights is here and most Indian households are busy cleaning and decluttering their homes and getting ready to welcome the Godess of prosperity in our homes. So in this hustle and bustle of cleaning and ...... I found an old dart board that was given to me by a friend for doing whatever I wanted with it and since we are all talking decor it is fun to make something for my house. This is what i came up with.
I have been thinking of making a mirror wall piece for some time now so decided to do just that and so I started with 2 coats of black paint to cover the design, then I got a mirror of 9" diameter and stuck that in the center using F6000 glue. then I masked off the mirror with a masking tape. Next I cut up some CDs and stuck them like mosaic,
Next was the question of what material to use for filling in the gaps, After a lot of thinking and overthinking about using grout I finally decided to use my DIY texture paste. I made some and used it as grout for the mosaic.
Once everything was dry i painted the CD pices in multiple colours and the grout in black, Finally to finish i also added gold on top of the black to give it a metallic feel as well an antique look.
Now this piece is ready to adorne my home and add a bit of that festive feel.
Hope you enjoyed this and will make an effort to decoarate your home with a little something that has your personal touch...
I love the rustic look do not forget to share what you think.
Happy Diwali!! and season's greetings to all!

Super alteration Seema. The dartboard is unrecognizable! The dull metallic look is beautiful. Great upcycling. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rupa!!
DeleteSimply fantastic! !!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sonia, coming from you means a lot.
DeleteThis is beautifully done, even if my dad would likely shed a tear or two over the demise of the dart board, lol. Thank you for sharing with us at Altered Eclectics this month. Sammy-x
ReplyDeleteThankyou Sammy.
